A 65-year-old man, Yussuf Lalafa Buya, was shot dead at his home in Bura, Tana River County, early on Wednesday, November 12. According to police, several men went to his house at dawn, called him outside, and opened fire at close range. He was struck four times and died on the spot.
The body has been taken to a local mortuary for postmortem examination. Investigators say the motive is still unclear, although the area has recently recorded cases of violence linked to land disputes and cattle-related tensions.
In Nakuru County, 31-year-old Mogendi Momanyi succumbed to injuries at a hospital on November 11. Police report that he had been assaulted on October 30 in Kuresoi, allegedly following a personal disagreement. Authorities have identified a suspect and are pursuing him for murder.
In a separate incident, a prisoner identified as Stanley Koskey escaped from custody in Eldama Ravine on November 12. He reportedly fled during breakfast. Koskey had been serving an eight-year sentence for theft and unlawful possession of another person’s ID, and he still faces two additional cases in Kericho. A manhunt involving police and prison officials is underway.
Meanwhile in Marani, Kisii County, police are looking for five armed men who attacked a couple in Metembe village on Wednesday night. The suspects, believed to be carrying an AK-47 rifle, stormed the home, fired several shots in the air and fled. The victims suffered serious injuries but are stable and receiving treatment.
Elsewhere, police in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, have arrested two suspects believed to be behind a string of robberies in the Olekasasi area. The arrests follow increased patrols after complaints from residents over rising crime.
