Kenya’s logistics industry is rapidly adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and automation to make operations faster, cheaper, and more transparent. From route planning and fleet management to warehouse control and procurement, local and international logistics players are increasingly relying on digital tools to tackle inefficiency, reduce fuel costs, and improve sustainability.

One of the major movers in this shift is Alliad, a global logistics and integrated services company, which has announced a major digital transformation push in its Kenyan operations. The company says it is deploying AI and advanced telematics systems to enhance supply chain efficiency, accountability, and environmental performance across its East African network.

In its 2024 Sustainability Report, Alliad highlighted Kenya as a central hub for its regional innovation strategy. The company is using smart technologies to streamline route planning, minimise risks, and improve supply chain visibility.

According to the report, Alliad Kenya has rolled out AI-based monitoring platforms and digital fleet management systems that track driver habits, vehicle conditions, and delivery efficiency in real time.

“These tools are helping us make smarter decisions, improve delivery accuracy, and reduce operational costs through data-driven insights,” the report noted.

The AI systems also support preventive maintenance and allow early identification of potential mechanical issues before they disrupt operations.

“Alliad’s digital transformation strategy is central to how we operate in complex logistics environments,” said Rashad Sinokrot, the company’s Global CEO. “By integrating technology into logistics and procurement, we’re improving not just performance, but also transparency and sustainability in all our markets.”

Operating in more than ten countries across Africa and the Asia-Pacific region, Alliad has positioned its Kenyan branch as a testing ground for new transport digitalisation initiatives.

The company’s telematics network enhances delivery accuracy, minimises downtime, and ensures compliance with international safety standards—crucial improvements for sectors such as construction, energy, and humanitarian logistics.

Alliad has also digitised its procurement systems, linking supplier evaluation with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) benchmarks. The automated platform screens vendors, monitors compliance in real time, and tracks performance data across the value chain.

“Digital procurement helps us work with partners who share our sustainability values,” the company said. “It strengthens accountability and supports ethical sourcing throughout our operations.”

In addition, Alliad Kenya is upgrading its warehouse and inventory systems through barcode scanning and wireless management tools, reducing manual errors and improving visibility in stock control.

Industry observers note that Kenya’s expanding logistics market—fuelled by regional trade and infrastructure development—is creating demand for smarter and more sustainable operations. Alliad’s innovations could serve as a model for other companies operating in demanding or remote regions.

Formerly known as GCC Services before its 2023 rebrand, Alliad has been active in East Africa for over a decade, offering logistics, engineering, and facilities management services. Its growing focus on AI and automation mirrors Kenya’s own ambitions under its Digital Economy Blueprint, which encourages the use of technology to modernise the transport and manufacturing sectors.
